About
Smart Lab is a data management system for laboratory safety information designed to simplify the administration of laboratory safety in the country. It integrates safety data elements seamlessly, allowing users to record and track critical safety information in real-time. This system facilitates data management, utilization, and supports the expansion of safety standards in Thai laboratories to enhance their widespread adoption
The National Laboratory Safety Information Management System Project, or Smart Lab Platform, was conceived in 2019 (B.E. 2562) in line with NRCT's mission to develop innovations that enhance laboratory safety standards. Chiang Mai University (managed by the Center for Safety, Health and Environmental Management, Chiang Mai University) was contracted to design and develop the system, as well as to disseminate and provide training on the Smart Lab Platform to regional research networks (network), leading universities (node), and affiliated institutions (sub-node), serving as a tool to collectively drive and elevate laboratory safety standards nationwide.
The Smart Lab
Smart Lab is an intelligent management system designed to address laboratory safety across all 7 components according to ESPReL standards in a one-stop service, automatically linking critical data between components for convenience and facilitating integrated management, consisting of 7 sub-systems.

An intelligent management system that addresses laboratory safety in accordance with all 7 components of the ESPReL standards set by the NRCT.
Operation Plan
Safety Operation Planning Data Management System A safety management system featuring a semi-automated component for creating policies, organizational structures (appointment orders), operational plans, and assigning responsibilities for each area.
Chemical Inventory
Chemical Management System. A chemical management system based on the existing Chemical Inventory system, enhanced with features for tracking the chemical life cycle and an intelligent system for recommending chemical storage practices based on incompatibility principles.
Waste Track
Chemical Waste Management System A chemical waste management system based on the CMU Waste Track system, featuring barcode functionality and tracking of waste disposal, along with real-time monitoring of waste quantities.
Laboratory and Equipment
Laboratory and Equipment Management System A system for managing the physical aspects of laboratories, including equipment and tools, based on building regulations. It includes location identification, inspection, and comprehensive tracking plan development.
Risk Management
Risk Management System A system for preventing and addressing hazards, including risk assessment, risk management, and the establishment of laboratory requirements for emergency response.
Online Learning
Online Learning System A system for providing fundamental knowledge on laboratory safety, supporting e-learning to create specific courses for individual laboratories, along with a training data management system and notification system.
Document Management
Document Management System A digital platform for managing data and documents that simplifies searching and referencing, with centralized data retrieval through blind statistics that respects the privacy of data owners
